Day 3Yesterday was a very busy day ! We worked on our first aid all day from dealing with gun wounds to CPR. We learnt a vast amount of useful first aid techniques. I knew of acronym DRABC but I learnt a new one which is called C(catastrophic) D (danger) R(response) A (airway) B (breathing) C ( circulation) CDRABC. We had a lot visitors to the camp, a member from the UN came to visit after his recent 15 month tour. A member from the international Red Cross came to tell us about his experience working on the front line. The third visitor was a group of woman from a university in Egypt.Later that evening our first aid training was put to test with a scenario which contained a car crash with a gun shooting. In the scenario I diagnosed someone as dead because they had no pulse with clear airways which meant I had to move on to the other patients. Two gun shot wounds. A woman and a man. I patched one wound up on the woman but on the man I had to patch his wounds up more than once.Later that day the storm came in and destroyed part of our shelter which meant we had to get up late in the night, before one and make repairs.Day 4.We got up at 6am to take the camp down and make the area clear of any evidence that we were there. Going back into normal life felt weird as we were getting used to living the way we were.Today's class was on security and situation awareness. It was really interesting on how to Colour code buildings and using the clock system on approaching people. A lot of the information we learnt today is commonsense, but requires a bit of thinking, but easy to do once it's understood. Over the next few days we will be back in the class room learning about security.
