Hostlie Environment Training - Day 5

Today was very action packed!! We were outside today doing a lot practical training on:Vehicle check pointsFoot ambushesVehicle ambushesFinding cover when existing the vehicleSearching vehiclesThe vehicle check points was interesting because someone in the Jeep freaked the police man and we ended up getting out of the vehicles, on to our knees with hands behind our heads. This shows how quick people can change in this part of the world.During the foot ambushes we used a technique were you run in a Zig zag and duck down for cover. When looking for cover it needs to be hard which means bullets can't pass through it as easily. In the vehicle ambushes it's a bit harder because when driving the doors are locked which makes getting out fast harder. You have to get out on the opposite side to were the bullets are coming from.Searching vehicles is very important when leaving it somewhere over night. Anyone can plant something on it which requires you to search it. You have to do the following when searchingCheck around the vehicle for any changes to its surroundingsCheck under carriageCheck wheel archesCheck roofLook in the windowsCheck the interiorCheck engine bayWhen doing the above checks it is easier doing it in pairs because you are able to mirror each other on both sides when checking the vehicle. The check takes 2 mins at the most but we took a lot longer to do it.
