The Beginning
At the age of 11 Jonny received his first DSLR camera which engaged his interest in photography. Since then his interest has developed with Jonny winning a Red Cross Humanity competition with his photograph named “Hands Across the Divide”, which is a statue at the Craigavon Bridge, Derry~Londonderry.
Whilst a student at Castlederg High School, Jonny was entered into a photography competition run by Price Waterhouse Coopers where he came second with his twilight image of Lough Erne.
From 2012 Jonny developed his interest in videography and started freelancing in the sports industry. This is where his film making career took off.
In 2013 Jonny got the chance to take part in Northern Ireland's first BFI Film Academy, ran by Cinemagic. He participated in the creation of the short film “Light at The End”. Since then Jonny has kept very good working relations with Cinemagic and other industry professionals.

Jonny Collins
Jonny is currently a final year Cinematic Arts student at Ulster University. He runs a successful film production company named Ulster Image (Formally Jcollins Productions) which specialises in sporting and event coverage, in moving image and stills photography.
In 2017 he has gained a number of film credits including a short film called The GUARD. This is about a girl who had an interest in boxing. The production was filmed in Belfast. Jonny was in the Art department as a Trainee Prop Setter, where he helped dress the set.
Two feature films have been worked on locally, A Christmas Starin 2014 where he was a casting assistant to theHubbard CastingCompany. This was a great opportunity and taught him how to cast and work with actors. This experience was hugely beneficial.
The most recent feature film worked on, was Grace and Goliath. This was filmed in the Summer of 2017 where Jonny was a Stills Photographer. This experience gave Jonny a real perspective into how photography operates in the film industry. This has given him a lot of encouragement to progress his work into set photography.
In the earlier months of 2017, Jonny applied to the Cinemagic Organisation, to work on a music video for the IFA Under 19 Woman's European Football Championships. This event was held in Windsor Park, Belfast and other locations around Northern Ireland.
In August 2017, he was hired to work on the documentary team. Jonny's main roles were to film behind the scenes and to also interview the film crew. Other roles that he undertook on the film was to assist with the stills photography on set and behind the scenes.
In October 2017, Jonny was selected as the Assistant Editor role on the Red Bull Fox Hunt (a mountain biking event). His role was to back up GoPro cameras from the cyclists. He was also responsible to edit the greatest moments in Final Cut Pro X.
During May 2017, Jonny was in charge of filming the Tour of the North West. This event was held by Foyle Cycling Club in Derry-Londonderry. During one of the stages of the event, a horse jumped in front of the cyclists on the road. He caught this on camera from back of a motorbike.
He released a video of this particular footage onto Facebook. The video went viral with many national/international newspaper and media outlets/websites contacting him to do a feature on it. Within the first few days of the video going viral, the popular rights management company, Jukin Media contacted Jonny asking to buy rights to the video.
